Long Beach, CA – SCS Engineers announces that senior waste management professional Tom Parker, PE, BCEE, joins the firm’s solid waste engineering practice as Project Director. Parker reports to Srividhya Viswanathan, PE, Vice President and leader of SCS’s landfill and landfill gas engineering practice in the southwestern US. He will manage the design of transfer station and organics facilities, including composting, anaerobic digestion, and other new technologies, that support the firm’s growing organics program and as part of SCS Engineers’ Sustainability Services.
Parker brings more than 35 years of experience in solid waste facility planning and design. His work includes assessing, planning, designing, and constructing transfer stations, household hazardous waste facilities, compost facilities, and landfills. His comprehensive solid waste engineering and management expertise are essential for controlling costs when developing multi-phased public service facilities with multidisciplinary teams.
Viswanathan said, “Tom’s technical expertise in facilities and organics management, composting operations, and management of organics facilities enhances SCS’s existing portfolio and supports the current and future needs of our solid waste clients who are moving toward sustainable operations.”
Parker is a certified Professional Engineer in Washington, New Mexico, and Texas and is a Board-Certified Environmental Engineer (BCEE).
Parker comes to SCS with decades of leadership service in solid waste engineering and management. Notable positions include his roles for the Solid Waste Association of North America, for whom he served as National President, National Safety Chair, International Board Representative, New Mexico Roadrunner Chapter, and a member of their Executive Committee.
