Orlando, FL – Pete Carrico, Vice President of SCS Engineers (SCS), has been awarded the 2012 Distinguished Individual Achievement Award by the Landfill Gas Management Technical Division of the Solid Waste Association of North America (SWANA). Mr. Carrico received this honor on March 21, 2012, in Orlando, Florida, as part of SWANA’s 35th Annual Landfill Gas (LFG) Symposium. This annual award recognizes efforts by individual SWANA members for service to SWANA’s Landfill Gas Management Division, service to employers, support of SWANA’s Mission to advance the practice of MSW management, and overall long-term service to the landfill gas industry.
Mr. Carrico serves as Eastern Regional Manager for SCS Field Services (a division of SCS Engineers) Operation, Maintenance, and Monitoring office. In this role, he is responsible for the direction of more than 50 LFG O&M projects throughout the Eastern United States and a staff of more than 40 employees. Mr. Carrico joined SCS in September 1985, and holds a Bachelor of Arts Degree in Environmental Science from the University of Virginia, where he graduated in 1983.
Mr. Carrico has been active in SWANA since 1994, on both national and state chapter levels, presenting papers and conducting training sessions at Wastecon (SWANA’s national conference), LFG Symposia, and state chapter events and conferences. Within the international organization, Mr. Carrico has served in the LFG Management Technical Division as Chair of the Training and Program Committees, Co-chair of the Awards Committee, and Vice Director, Director, and past Director of the division. Mr. Carrico currently is the Vice President of the Virginia Old Dominion Chapter and has served on the chapter’s Board of Directors since 2003, where he was the Training Committee Chair then Secretary prior to being elected to Vice President. The participation with SWANA has been fruitful for Mr. Carrico, providing him with great opportunities to work with other solid waste professionals throughout the United States.
