In this article, authors Kacey Garber and Charles Hostetler discuss why Carbon Capture and Storage (CCS) may be a carbon mitigation strategy. They take us through the process and the use of mapping tools to provide information for prospective Class VI UIC projects in Illinois. These maps provide a high-level sense of the feasibility of Class VI UIC across Illinois and indicate whether a project could proceed to the detailed feasibility study stage. They provide information on whether or not fatal flaws or complications exist that prohibit or deter your project before conducting a comprehensive, site-specific feasibility study.
