FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE August 24 , 2006 Contact: Inland Empire Utilities Agency Awards Contract to SCS Engineers for Regional Water Recycling Plant No. 5 Expansion Long Beach – SCS Engineers has been awarded a contract by the Inland Empire Utilities Agency (IEUA) for design of the Regional Water Recycling Plant No. 5 (RP-5) Solids Handling Facility, Phase II Expansion, located near the IEUA administrative headquarters at 6075 Kimball Ave., Chino, Calif. SCS Engineers will provide process, structural, mechanical, electrical, instrumentation/control, and civil engineering services, in addition to project management, estimating, startup, and permitting functions, for the approximately $4,500,000 project. The existing RP-5 Solids Handling Facility is being expanded to double IEUA’s capacity for treating dairy manure and food processing wastes. The expanded facility will generate additional biogas to fuel engines/generators and produce 1.5 megawatts of electrical energy. Solids processed at the plant are composted for direct land application as a soil amendment.
